What I actually think about Highland Park West.

Highland Park West is the neighborhood I point buyers to when they want Central Austin character and can't compromise on views. The ridge runs roughly north-south, and the homes that face east look directly at the skyline across the tree canopy.

The housing stock is predominantly mid-century — built in the 1940s through the 1960s — but many homes have been comprehensively renovated into modern estates. The original bones are strong: good lot sizes, established trees, and a sense of permanence that newer construction can't manufacture.

The 360 corridor is a few minutes away in every direction, which makes the whole Austin metro accessible without fighting Mopac or I-35. For buyers who want to be central without being in a neighborhood that feels urban, Highland Park West is often the correct answer.
